'Meet Me Next Christmas' Reviews: "Meet Me Next Christmas brings the typical Hallmark holiday movie to Netflix as two people unlucky in love find themselves connecting at Christmas"

On November 6, 2024, Netflix released 'Meet Me Next Chriistmas', which has earned predominantly positive reviews from critics. In the holiday film, "In pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams, Layla must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert." The ensemble cast includes Pentatonix, Christina Milian, Kevin Olusola, and Devale Ellis. But what did the critics say?

Ben Gibbons of Screen Rant says, "Meet Me Next Christmas brings the typical Hallmark holiday movie to Netflix as two people unlucky in love find themselves connecting at Christmas." Adding, "While most holiday films that revolve around getting to a big event don't feature the event in a big way, Meet Me Next Christmas clearly made an effort to include Pentatonix, the a cappella group specializing in Christmas music. The band appear throughout the movie, adding a distinctive additional plot and playing up their celebrity superstar status, which highlights their willingness to be playful and be the butt of the joke."

Jonathon Wilson of Ready Steady Cut was less impressed, stating, "But Meet Me Next Christmas is a really weird movie. It’s mostly a feature-length advertisement for the Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix if anyone remembers those guys. I have no idea why this is the case." Concluding, "But the scenes between Layla and Teddy aren’t terrible. There’s chemistry between the leads and some of the jokes are okay, especially once Kalen Allen arrives to lead us off on a silly but pretty fun subplot in which the leads compete in a lip-synch battle for the tickets."
