On October 24, 2024, Different Day Productions released 'A Very Flattened Christmas' on streaming after a theatrical release in September. With a score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has received a mixed reception from critics and includes an ensemble cast of Key Tawn Toothman, Trevor Vincent Farney, Mark Mannette, and Kaemie McCanless. In the film, "Christmas at a roadkill collection company gets bloody as employees are killed off one by one by an evil reindeer who is dead set on killing them all. Will they figure out who the killer is? Or will they all be flattened?" But what did the critics say?
Federico Furzan of Movie-Blogger.com notes, "A Very Flattened Christmas isn’t a wild and innovative ride of comedy horror. It’s a stoner comedy that doesn’t go heavy on the “stoner” but does so on the legacy of its characters. Those who liked Flattened will love this one, as it expands on themes that work much better in a feature regardless of the audience’s knowledge of Toothman’s past endeavor. But again, if you connect with the goofy approach to a Christmas horror comedy, then you will find yourself clapping and drinking a shot every time an obnoxious character known as Dick Puncher appears on the screen. Oh, and those sequences from “Dick Puncher Saves Christmas,” the animated film referenced in the movie, are actually a delight. If that wasn’t the real Arnold Schwarzenegger voice-acting, then the actor doing it did an excellent job of imitating the Hollywood star."
Romey Norton of Ready Steady Cut says, "While the killer’s costume —a Santa suit with an animal head—is creepy, it needed to be more exaggerated and extravagant to match the film’s ridiculousness." Adding, "A Very Flattened Christmas almost takes a whodunnit approach when everyone questions who the killer is and a detective is brought in to investigate. The pace is consistent, with one weird thing after another which should keep you entertained for the hour-and-a-half runtime, and the ending isn’t as predictable as you’d expect, taking a fun and weird turn, tying everything up with a forced wedding and heartfelt bro-to-bro moment. Throughout A Very Flattened Christmas, some parts fill the expectations of a slasher movie, guts and gore included, but it needed more dramatic deaths to make it truly stand out and be memorable! While there are funny moments, the comedy can feel forced and doesn’t always pay off, becoming too awkward and cringe."
